STRESSTEST

In the pavilion’s central room, an immersive film collage makes the global dimension of urban overheating tangible. Developed in collaboration with director Corinna zu Ortenburg and the design studio flora&fauna visions, the film confronts visitors with the spatial and material causes of the climate crisis. Through heatmaps, the overheating of dense and sealed urban centers is visualized in glowing colors. The impacts on people, animals, and ecosystems are depicted—unflinchingly and in multiple layers. The film installation underscores the urgent need to rethink how we plan, design, and use urban spaces. Yet the film does not stop at presenting the threat. It showcases compelling examples of transformations that have already been realized: vegetation, shading, ventilation and evaporation, reflective and cooling surfaces, and healthy materials. These are not just theoretical concepts, but practical strategies already in place. They represent a new paradigm in urban planning—one that goes beyond adaptation and aspires to regeneration: the active restoration of climatic, ecological, and social balance.
