The reality of climate change is unstoppable and the measures taken so far are not enough - this is evident every day. The overheating of cities is already claiming lives and will in future reach temperatures that far exceed the climate targets that have been set. How are people, animals, plants and infrastructures supposed to withstand these rapid changes? Without effective countermeasures, some European cities will become uninhabitable in just a few decades. Yet despite this obvious danger, climate-adapted urban planning remains a side note.

The German contribution to this year's Architecture Biennale in Venice confronts visitors directly with the future of the urban climate: a STRESSTEST that makes the urgency of action tangible. At the same time, it shows approaches and solutions for resilient urban planning that will make our cities sustainable and liveable for all organisms. The contribution thus becomes an urgent appeal to pass this STRESSTEST together.

The catalogue of the German pavilion brings together essays by Luisa Amann, Maria Auböck, bauchplan ).(, Silvia C. Benedito, Carsten Dierkes, Almut Grüntuch-Ernst, Andreas Kipar, Klaus K. Loenhart, Bernhard Maaz, Andreas Matzarakis, Burkert Pieske and Boris Schröder-Esselbach.
